The Road Ahead for Those Who…

Ways and Means to make a difference to our Partners

Extension of Outreach
In the coming year, we aim to reach out to a greater number of children in Mumbai by extending the Outreach Programme through innovative activities and programmes for development of these children with an emphasis on children's participation in the intervention process
Sustainability
We plan to work towards effective self - sustenance programmes for the organization by getting the children involved in being responsible for their contribution. "Balkruti" has been effectively functioning and there is a hope that through the marketing of Balkruti products a corpus fund would be built that would provide funds for all other programs and activities of the organization.
Rural based Homes
A macro analysis of the issue of Street Children, makes one realize that the root of this malaise lies in the dissatisfaction that these children face in their homes in the rural areas. In order to address these questions that result in their migration we intend to start a Home. in certain identified villages of Thane and Raigad districts. Further we wish to initiate change through " HEENA " which will rewrite the lines on the hands of a child through H ealth, E ducation, E nvironment, N ature and A ptitude in a rural setting.

Yes, we can' is a powerful sentiment, because it is an affirmation. Civil society is rooted in a more positive view - a sense of what we can and should achieve together. UN Secretary General Kofi Annan inaugurating the International Year of Volunteer 2001 on 28th November 2000 urged governments and institutions world wide in these words, "Societies need to recognize and promote volunteerism as a valuable activity. They must facilitate the work of volunteers and encourage volunteer action…" Here at The Vatsalya Foundation we have a host of volunteers from a cross section of society from professionals to college students and even housewives who regularly come and assist our children in their studies, teach them various vocational skills and some even help with the administration.

We have planned to have meetings and get a greater sense of partnership from the Communities we work in and in a special way we would like to focus on members in society to form a chain of Volunteers to carry on the Vision of Vatsalya Foundation.
