Lajawab
“Food
glorious food. Nothing warms the heart better”.
You can share your joys and sorrows, and look forward to the experience
that every mealtime brings. Come, have lunch, tea or dinner with them.
Discover the smiles a jalebi can spread or the tears that a hot puri
can chase away, when shared with children who open their hearts to you.
The Lajawab
Eclectic cuisine was initiated in the year 2003 at the residential
home. This is a catering service some of the older children provide for
outsiders, who come and celebrate their birthdays or anniversaries with
children. The services provided by the Lajawab - eclectic cuisine have
been appreciated very much and the children plan to expand this
activity.

Case Study- Om Prakash is from
Bihar. He was brought to Mumbai by his elder brother where they started
selling vada pav’s near CST station. His older brother was
familiar with the outreach worker from Vatsalya and this also created a
relationship between the organization and Om Prakash. He was admitted
to the shelter home and this proved very beneficial for him. Om Prakash
was always interested in cooking and the Lajawab programme only
facilitated his interest. He took great interest in it. He showed a lot
of maturity during his tenth standard by dedicating himself to his
studies. He secured 74% and aspires to do Hotel Management. He believes
that the Vatsalya foundation has been extremely helpful in realizing
his future vocation.
