About Us / History
A foundation shaped by four decades of field-based child support.
The Vatsalya Foundation was established in 1982 and grew through a long and sustained commitment to vulnerable children, youth, and families across changing social conditions.
How the journey evolved
The organization’s history is rooted in the belief that children in difficult circumstances require more than episodic rescue. They need safe relationships, meaningful opportunities, and systems that help them move toward education, dignity, and stability.
Over time, the foundation developed multiple intervention strategies including outreach, shelter, rural projects, day care and contact centres, advocacy, research, and community networking. This expanded structure reflects an understanding that children’s realities are social, emotional, educational, and institutional all at once.
